Celebration of Kannada Rajyotsava at ICMR – NCDIR, Bengaluru on 1 November 2022
Kannada Rajyotsava or Karnataka Formation day was celebrated with enthusiasm at NCDIR, Bengaluru on 1 November 2022. Presentation, group songs and quiz were held to create awareness about the heritage, culture, famous personalities and other important information about Karnataka. All the staff participated in the events happily and enjoyed the celebration.
Fit India Freedom Run 3.0 at ICMR-NCDIR, Bengaluru on 31 October 2022
Fit India Freedom Run 3.0 was organised on 31st October 2022 at ICMR-NCDIR in accordance with the guidelines of ICMR, New Delhi and Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, GOI.
Officers and staff members of ICMR-NCDIR eagerly participated in the 3km run and encouraged to continue the physical activity in daily routine.
Hindi Pakhwada Samaroh held on 21 October 2022 at ICMR-NCDIR, Bengaluru
ICMR-NCDIR celebrated “Hindi Pakhwada” from 14th September, 2022 to 29th September, 2022. Different competitions like Essay, oratory skill testing including poem recitation and poster display based on different themes were organized in which all the scientific, technical, administrative staff of ICMR-NCDIR, Bengaluru participated. This culminated in a “Hindi Pakhwada Samapan Samaroh”.
Dr. Prashant Mathur, Director NCDIR welcomed our chief guest for the occasion, Group Captain Vijay Kumar, CEO of Air Force Station Yelahanka who emphasised on the importance of Hindi language along with creating awareness about its usage in daily life. They congratulated all the winners of the various competitions. The winners of the competitions were awarded with cash prizes and certificate of participation.
Visit of Secretary, DHR and Director General ICMR, to ICMR – NCDIR, Bengaluru on 13 October 2022
Dr. Rajeev Bahl, the newly appointed Secretary, DHR and DG, ICMR visited ICMR – NCDIR Bengaluru on 13 October 2022. Overview of working of the Institute, achievements and strategic plans for the near future were presented. DG, ICMR interacted with all the scientists and provided valuable guidance and support for priority areas of research.

Visit of Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar to ICMR- NCDIR, Bengaluru on 27 September 2022.
Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar, Hon’ble Minister of State, MoHFW visited ICMR-NCDIR on 27th September 2022 accompanied by Ms. Anu Nagar, the Joint Secretary, DHR and Shri Ramakrishnan, Sr DDG (Admin), ICMR. The following three releases were made during her visit.
1. Situation analysis of childhood cancer care services in India
2. Monograph of ICMR-NCDIR: A decade of research: impacting NCD public health actions
3. ICMR Bioethics Unit Capacity building interactives such as FAQs, animated videos and educational movies.
The Hon’ble Minister addressed the gathering and appreciated the work being done by the ICMR and its Institutes. She was concerned about the high proportion of childhood cancer cases and agreed to the need to make cancer a nationally notifiable disease.
Media and Communication Training for ICMR Directors at ICMR-NCDIR, Bengaluru 26th – 27th September 2022
Directors and Divisional Heads of ICMR participated in a training on media and crisis communication conducted by Global Health Strategies at ICMR-NCDIR, Bengaluru. During the two day training the Directors interacted and discussed the changing media landscape, latest trends and practices in media, means of community engagement and use of social media. It also included hands on exercise on understanding and management of crisis communication. The training concluded with the Directors developing institute specific communication strategy.
Release of the guideline ‘Framework for audit of Medical Certification of Cause of Death at Health Facility’ on 15th September 2022.
The guideline ‘Framework for audit of Medical Certification of Cause of Death at Health Facility’, developed by ICMR-NCDIR in collaboration with the World Health organization and the Central Bureau of Health Intelligence, was released by the Secretary, Health and Family Welfare in the National workshop on Strengthening cause of death information system in India on 15th September 2022 in New Delhi. The guideline helps health facilities in strengthening recording of cause of death information. patriotic songs.

Celebration of Independence Day at Nirmal Bhawan, ICMR Complex (NCDIR, NIMR and ROHC), Bengaluru on 15th August 2022
76th Independence Day was celebrated under the initiative of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with great enthusiasm at ICMR Complex, Bengaluru by the three institutes of ICMR - NCDIR, NIMR and ROHC. The staff with their family members participated by reciting poems and singing patriotic songs.

Release of the Report on Monitoring Survey of Cancer Risk Factors and Health System Response in North East Region (NER) of India ICMR-NCDIR, 2022.
On the occasion of World Cancer Day on 4th February 2022, the Report on Monitoring Survey of Cancer Risk Factors and Health System Response in North East Region (NER) of India, 2022 by ICMR-NCDIR was released by Prof AC Kataki, Director, Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Institute, Guwahati. Dr Gautam Majumdar, Medical Superintendent, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Cancer Centre, Agartala was the Guest of Honour. The members of Scientific Advisory Committee, Research Area Panel on Cancer, Experts and Investigators of the monitoring survey, Population and Hospital Based Cancer Registries and NCDIR staff joined the event.
Celebration of New Year Day of 2022 at NCDIR, Bengaluru
ICMR-NCDIR celebrated the New Year Day with enthusiam, abiding by all COVID precautions. Director, NCDIR addressed the staff and congratulated for the institute' achievements in the decadal year of existence. He mentioned that the COVID related precautions need to be continued in view of the rapidly spreading Omicron variant of COVID.
