Sensitization Training Programme on "Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace" on 16th December 2020 at ICMR-NCDIR, Bengaluru.
Sensitization training of all the staff of NCDIR on Sexual Harassment of Women at workplace was conducted on 16th December 2020 at NCDIR Auditorium in two batches, morning and afternoon session with all safety measures and physical distancing, mask etc due to the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic.
Mrs. Sumitra Acharya and Mrs. Sunitha R the advocates and also the external members of the Internal Committee conducted the training and sensitized the staff regarding prevention of sexual harassment at workplace including the roles and responsibility of the employee and employer.
Sensitisation workshop for the newly started Hospital Based Cancer Registries (HBCRs) held on 3rd and 7th December 2020
Sensitisation workshop for the newly started Hospital Based Cancer Registries (HBCRs) was conducted in two batches on 3rd and 7th December 2020 through video conferencing. About 70 participants from 25 HBCRs participated on both days together and had interactive discussions related to the cancer registry. The medical terminologies used in the registry, data abstraction, coding issues were discussed with hands on exercises. The workshop emphasized on coverage, completeness, co-operation from other departments of their hospital and quality of the data.

The online workshop on quality assurance and hands on training for pathologists for the Incidental Gall Bladder Cancer and Other Pre-malignant Gall Bladder Condition project was conducted on 7th December 2020. The training session was conducted by the Dr. Prasenjit Das, Dr. Siddhartha Datta Gupta, Dr. Madhu S Rajeswari from AIIMS Delhi. The main objective of the workshop was discussion on the protocol for the quality assurance of the histo-pathological side reviews for the project. The workshop was attended by the pathology experts, investigators and senior research fellows of the participating study centres.

A webinar on 'Preparing for the call for research proposal under CaResNER Programme' took place on 27th November 2020. The objective of the webinar was to brief prospective investigators about the call and to enhance skills for identifying relevant areas of research and writing a sound research proposal. The sessions were conducted by eminent experts in the field. The webinar had an enthusiastic participation of around 85 attendees from all over the country.
Celebration of Constitution Day on 26 November 2020
The “Constitution Day” was celebrated on 26th November 2020. Director General, ICMR, New Delhi scheduled meeting at 10 30 am across the network of ICMR institutions and the Preamble was read. The NCDIR staff also joined the meeting and read the Preamble.
Meeting of the Scientific Advisory Committee on 25 November 2020
Web meeting of the Scientific Advisory Committee was held on 25th November 2020 at NCDIR, Bengaluru. Dr. Balram Bhargava, Secretary DHR and Director General, ICMR released the National Noncommunicable Disease Monitoring Survey (NNMS) 2017-18 Book Report during the meeting and gave valuable inputs and guidance in taking the institution ahead.
The SAC members were apprised about the various completed, ongoing and new activities and projects. The SAC members reviewed the progress and gave useful recommendations for follow up action.
Webinar on Cancer Awareness Day on 7th November 2020
ICMR – NCDIR organised a webinar titled “My Cancer Awareness: Empowering through knowledge” on the occasion of National Cancer Awareness Day on 7th November 2020 . Speakers included eminent physicians, oncologists, public health experts, ministry official, Cancer Care and Support Groups, Patient representative and others who addressed the participants and responded to their queries on specific topics.
Online Training program on “An update on ICMR National Ethical Guidelines with special Reference to Epidemiological Research” on 3rd November 2020
A 3-hour online webinar training program was organized on 3rd Nov 2020 by ICMR Bioethics Unit, National Centre for Disease Informatics and Research (NCDIR), Bengaluru which is also a WHO Collaborating Centre for Strengthening Ethics in Biomedical and Health Research to train the members of the Ethics Committees and to bolster epidemiologic research. Participants were from across the country.
Online Release of the National Cancer Registry Programme Report, 2020 on 18th August 2020.
The Report of National Cancer Registry Programme, 2020 containing the data from 28 Population Based Cancer Registries and 58 Hospital Based cancer Registries has been released on 18th August 2020 by Prof. Balram Bhargava, Secretary DHR & DG, ICMR. The NCRP Report Fact sheet which gives highlights of the Report has been released by Prof GK Rath, Head, National Cancer Institute, Jhajjar & Chief, Dr. B R Ambedkar Institute Rotary Cancer Hospital, AIIMS New Delhi. Dr. RS Dhaliwal, Head, Division of NCD at ICMR Hqs brought out many salient features of the report in his address. Dr. Prashant Mathur, Director NCDIR briefed the audience about the Highlights of the Report.

Integrity Pledge Ceremony at NCDIR, Bengaluru on account of Observance of Vigilance Awareness Week – 2020 from 27th October 2020 to 2nd November 2020
Integrity Pledge Ceremony was held at NCDIR on 27th October 2020 at 12.30 pm. All the staff have taken the Integrity pledge for citizens for vigilant and prosperous India. Mrs. Priyanka Das, Vigilance Officer NCDIR administered the pledge on behalf of Director, NCDIR. Care for Social distancing and other measures were taken care in view of the ongoing pandemic COVID-19.
Hindi Pakhwada at NCDIR, Bengaluru 14 September 2020 to 25 September 2020.
Hindi Pakhwada was observed at NCDIR from 14 Sep 2020 to 25 Sep 2020. Various online competitions were held for the staff of NCDIR in Hindi and non-Hindi categories of participants throughout the Pakhwada. The sessions were held abiding by all precautions related to ongoing pandemic. Good response was received from the staff. Prize distribution ceremony was held on 29 September 2020 and director awarded the prizes to winners.

ICMR Bioethics Unit, NCDIR Bengaluru organized a training program for the members of Ethics Committee of NCDIR Bengaluru. The training covered a wide range of topics including GCP Guidelines, New Drugs and Clinical Trials Rules, Roles, Responsibilities and Functions of EC, Registration and Accreditation of EC, etc. through interactive lectures.
ICMR Training on ‘Responsible Conduct of Research and Publication Ethics’ on 28th February 2020 at NCDIR, Bengaluru.
A one-day training program was organized by ICMR Bioethics Unit for ICMR Research Integrity Officers (RIOs), scientists of ICMR institutes, clinicians, biomedical health researchers, nursing faculty and students from across the country. The training encompassed a wide range of topics like responsible conduct of research, research misconduct, ethics in scientific writing, ICMR National Ethical Guidelines and also ICMR Policy on Research Integrity and Publication Ethics through interactive sessions and case discussions. The profound contribution of women scientists in the field of science was also acknowledged by celebrating the theme ‘Women in Science’ on the esteemed occasion of ‘National Science day’.

Data meeting of the investigators under the project on ‘Hospital Based Cancer Registries in Regional Cancer Centres’ held on 19th February 2020 focussed on the data status for completion of data transmission, quality check on diagnostic details, staging, treatment, follow up and survival. Investigators from 21 Regional Cancer Centres across the country participated in the meeting.
Visit of PG Students from M.S. Ramaiah Medical College, Bengaluru to NCDIR on 19th February 2020 as part of external posting to public health institutions.
A team of seven PG students along with faculty from the Dept. of Community Medicine, M.S.Ramaiah Medical College attended an orientation program at NCDIR on 19th February 2020. The activities and role of ICMR and NCDIR in the public health were presented during the program followed with interactive discussions.

In the first Data Review Meeting of the project on Population Based Cancer Survival Studies on Cancers of Breast, Cervix and Head & Neck, investigators from 21 PBCRs attended the meeting in person and two investigators joined through zoom conference call. Follow-up data status, preliminary survival analysis were reviewed and interactive discussions were held along with experts and Investigators.

Release of Dissemination Report on ICMR National Ethical Guidelines by ICMR Bioethics Unit Between 2017-2019
During 2017 – 18, ICMR Bioethics Unit organised 12 dissemination program on the ICMR National Ethical Guidelines across the country to reach out to maximum possible stakeholders. The report provides a comprehensive analysis of the dissemination programs that witnessed over 6751 participants including ethics committee members, clinicians, faculty, scientists, students (medical/ non-medical), nurses, lawyers and others, from across the country covering around 649 institutes. The report was released by Dr. Vasantha Muthuswamy, Chairperson, Ethics Advisory committee amidst other dignitaries on 12th February 2020 at NCDIR Bengaluru.

A regional training workshop for Monitoring survey of cancer and other NCD risk factors and health system response in NER' was undertaken between 7th to 9th February 2020, at the Sir Thutob Namgyal Memorial Referral Hospital, Gangtok. The Sikkim PBCR research team was trained in survey procedures through classroom and field practical.

Meeting of Steering Committee for Developing a Prioritized National Noncommunicable Disease Research Agenda held on 17 January 2020 at NCDIR, Bengaluru.
Focus of the meeting was to arrive at NCD research agenda based on ten targets of NCD Action Plan and SDG 3.4 in mind involving various experts (including the representative from WHO). A road map was drawn to take up follow-up measures to arrive at Prioritized NCD Research Agenda.
