The COVID-19 Pandemic has necessitated research to enable efficient and appropriate health and humanitarian response for reducing morbidity & mortality. In order to enable appropriate research response while ensuring that this does not compromise scientific validity and ethical requirements, the ‘National Guidelines for Ethics Committees Reviewing Biomedical & Health Research During COVID-19 Pandemic’ was conceptualized.

This document provides guidance for recording cause of death for COVID-19 as per the guidelines of World Health organization (WHO) and the general considerations of recording and reporting Medical Certification of Cause of Death (MCCD) by the Office of the Registrar General of India. It aids in strengthening mortality reporting by hospitals.

People with non-communicable diseases are at increased risk of developing complications due to COVID-19. They are also at increased risk of developing complications from existing diseases due to disruption of routine care. By simple measures from the people and their care providers, these complications can be prevented.
